Enhanced Pathways to Family Violence Work
Enhanced Pathways to Family Violence Work Project, funded by DHHS, to prepare students for a career in the family violence field.
Local Drug Action Teams (LDAT)
IndianCare has commenced a new project to lead two LDATs to help the Indian and South Asian communities in the Western and South Eastern regions, funded by The Alcohol and Drug Foundation. The LDATs are community partnerships using local knowledge to deliver evidence-informed alcohol harm prevention initiatives, tailored to the needs of their local area. The projects will run till June 2020 focusing on seniors and young people.
Partners: AMCS, Brothers and Sisters Foundation, Wyndham Social Group Cricket Club, Club 60 senior's group.
Activities: Conversational English classes, outings to parks, work readiness skills sessions, life skills and family relationships sessions,
South Eastern LDAT:
Partners: AMCS, SMRC, SEWA senior's group, Indians Seniors Association of Casey, Bellfield Cricket Club
Activities: Health and wellbeing community sessions, responsible alcohol use sessions, outings to parks, conversational English classes, life skills and family relationships sessions.
Family Violence Information session with Police | 6th October 2019
IndianCare organised an information session with the Family Violence Liaison Officer from Werribee police station for the Indian volunteers in the western region.
Conflict Management workshop | 5th October 2019
IndianCare organised a Family Violence workshop at Craigieburn on Conflict Management and Effective Communication. This was well attended by Punjabi women and was delivered by a qualified IndianCare volunteer.
Family Violence workshop by InTouch | 31st August 2019
IndianCare organised a Family Violence workshop, delivered by InTouch. The attendees included IndianCare board members, staff, volunteers and Indian community leaders about understanding and responding to family violence.
MuSeS multicultural service provision research | 17th August 2019
A workshop with Punjabi women by MCWH in Wyndham. Experiences of settlement, family violence and service access issues were explored.

InConcert Music | 2 February 2019
IndianCare, assisted InConcert Music to present an evening of cultural music and dance promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.

SBS Radio, Gujarati interviewed Tina Guido, General Manager, on issues in the Indian community and services of IndianCare. She also did an live interview for SBS Radio Hindi with a focus on the issue of family violence in the Indian community and IndianCare’s program on family violence prevention.

As part of the Empowering Communities network project, funded by InTouch, a Diwali arts event was conducted at the Dandenong Seniors Citizens Centre. Nandita Nadkarni led participants to make clay lamp holders (diyas) and showcasing a dance performance by Karma Dance company to promote the message of gender equality.
Let’s Talk About Alcohol ! | Aug 02, 2018 and 24 September 2018
Forums were conducted with international students and Indian Seniors to educate Indian students about the laws, harms related to alcohol and responsible drinking. One session was conducted at the Multicultural Hub and a second at Baxter College, in Melbourne CBD. They were expertly facilitated by Janelle Gibson, from ADF and Anu Krishnan, IndianCare.

Indian-Polish event at Victorian Parliament | May 04, 2016
Did you know that India provided refuge to Polish refugees during World War II? Particularly, Maharajah Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsihji Jadeja showed extreme genorosity. A group of Polish ladies who migrated to Australia from India since then, celebrate each year the kindness extended by India. IndianCare felt that this was a good story to share with the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and an event was held at Parliament House in partnership with Australian Multicultural Community Services.
